This will be the first full season for Canucks’ head coach Rick Tocchet. Tocchet joined the Canucks organization on January 22, 2023 after weeks of speculation that general manager Patrik Allvin would fire head coach Bruce Boudreau, and he proved to be an upgrade.

Prior to Boudreau’s firing, the Canucks were 18-25-3. Tocchet steadily improved the team, who finished the season 20-12-4 under his watch. Vancouver finished the month of January strong, and after a rough February, they had winning records in both March and April.

Tocchet brought Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar with him, and he didn’t make many changes during the offseason. Jason King, who ran the power play for the past three seasons, is the sole member of the coaching staff who will not return. In an interview with Sportsnet, Tocchet said that Gonchar, Daniel Sedin, and Henrik Sedin will handle the power play along with Tocchet himself.
